BDJ Box: Shiseido 7-Day Challenge, Day 0

I have sooo many reviews lined up but I'm doing this first for the contest! One thing I don't like is that we're encouraged to put up pictures. I just don't like unnecessarily posting my face all over here, but I guess it would be good to photographically prove my reviews.

On day 0, here's what my skin condition is like:

Right cheek, with flash, for color comparison.
From a normal distance, I can get away with dry skin.
Close up of right cheek without flash, for dry skin detail.

The Challenge:

My February BDJ box
For the seven-day challenge, I'm supposed to use the Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 balancing softener (a.k.a. toner,) Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 night emulsion (a.k.a. moisturizer) and Shiseido White Lucent intensive spot targeting serum for seven days, while the Shiseido White Lucent power brightening mask is to be used on the seventh day.

I'll be doing a simultaneous review with the Obagi cleanser I got from my December Glamourbox. I would have used the Celeteque cleansing oil that came as a gift with the February BDJ Box but I'm not yet sure how toners react with cleansing oil, if they are needed at all.

THANKFULLY I've been doing my homework because otherwise I'd be lost on which order to use this in.

My Plan of Attack:

Obagi Nu-Derm Foaming Gel
First step is always to cleanse first. This particular sample is really appropriate for this challenge as products found with dermatological clinics, rather than cosmetics houses, are often milder, perfume-free and preservative-free. The more "-free" the cleanser is, the more you'll be able to tell how the other products in your skin care routine work. And since the point is to test the two Shiseido lines, this works out perfectly :)

Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 balancing freshener
Toner comes after cleanser. It's meant to stabilize skin pH after soap (pH base) sets off your skin's usually slightly acidic balance. If you don't use toner, please start trying out some samples because skin pH imbalance does a lot of WHACK to your skin.

Shiseido White Lucent intensive spot targeting serum
Serum follows after the toner. It's a finer version of moisturizer and goes deeper into the pores. People with dry skin will benefit greatly from this. I'm piqued that it's billed "intensive" and "spot targeting." Does that mean it will be super duper effective on my dry patches? I'll find out at the end of this challenge!

Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 night emulsion
And then after all that prep, moisturizer. I've never sampled a moisturizer particularly for the nighttime so I'm wondering how this will be different from normal moisturizers.

Shiseido Benefiance pure retinol intensive revitalizing face masks
This goes on day 3 or 4. Since I'll be soaking it up with toner, I'll skip that part of the routine for that day. I've been told there's no need to rinse it off, but I'll just see how it goes.

Shiseido White Lucent power brightening mask
This goes on day 7, after toner and before serum.

Wish me luck!
