My April BDJ Elite Unboxing!

So it seems like the subscription boxes world conspired to make me extra happy on my birthday month. This April, I found out about (and immediately got) my OrangeBox. BDJ Box then came up with a special edition, full-size only BDJ Elite Box. Of course, I just had to get it!

The package arrived last Wednesday. Here's what I got:

It's twice as big as a BDJ box.

Immediately there's a curation card packet that greets you. I found this a little weird and it seemed a little bothersome. The rest of the contents are wrapped under a hot pink cloth.

April BDJ Elite Box: Summer Indulgence

I understood why the curation card had to be in a packet. It's a card set with a picture of the product in front, and product info and prices at the back. Very snazzy! I feel like I can play Pokemon trading cards with my bf now. Pikachu used Revlon Color Stay. It is useless!

And of course, here is the box shot:

What I'm Excited About:

Davines Nounou Shampoo and Conditioner, Php 390 at 75ml each

Next to makeup, my other love affair would be with haircare products. Specifically, salon shampoo and conditioner! Davines is an eco-friendly brand and it likes to use a lot of natural ingredients, contrary to typical salon brands. However, it's a salon favorite so I'm verrrry excited about this. I took a quick sniff and the pair smells really nice. It seems heavily perfumed and I'm not sure whether that's through artificial or natural means but I love it!

Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 50, Php 509.25 / 88ml

It's summer and I haven't really found the perfect sunblock yet. That sticky sunblock feeling makes me feel like I'm at the beach, which is fine when I'm wearing a bikini but I don't think that's really in the dress code. A dry touch sunblock can help me protect my skin while being covered up.

Ahava Essential Day Moisturizer, Php 448.50 / 15ml

Mara of badwithnames has been raving about Ahava to me. She says they smell nice and I've had good experience with Dead Sea products so I love this. Also, since attending the Shiseido workshop sponsored by Rowena of Animetric's World, I've added day creams to my skin care routine.

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in 075 Cruise Collection, Php 575 / 2.55g

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede in 075 Cruise Collection swatch

This would've been higher up my list but a quick swatch shows that it spreads a little cooler than I'd like. By cool, I mean it has much more blue than I'd like to see in my oranges and corals. I find that hues with faint blue undertones look really garish on me but I haven't used it on my lips yet so I'm hoping it looks nice on my face.

I'd like to point out that the BDJ team contacted subscribers and asked us our color skin tone and color preference so that we would be given the best sample. I begged for a coral, teehee.

Celeteque Dermoscience Advanced Anti-Aging Anti-Wrinkle Ultra-Hydrating Cleansing Oil, Php 369 / 100ml

Counting the previous gift, the one sent last February and the one inside this box brings my total Celeteque Cleansing Oil count to three. I like  to hoard but even I think that's too much! LUCKILY! The ever-friendly and super pretty winkwink BDJ team took action upon my "I got the Celeteque oil :(" comment on their FB announcement. I was contacted earlier today and offered an exchange for the April gift. Lucky me, I didn't touch it yet, whee!

It's redundant, sure, especially since it was already given out as a gift. I'm still excited though because it's a very gentle and non-drying makeup remover. Makeup removers that I've tried are very effective but unfortunately, very drying around the eyes. My daily makeup is just face powder, blush, lipstick and eyebag concealer and so far, Celeteque's had no problems with that. I haven't had a chance to use it on waterproof makeup, though I really hope it works!

The card says it's Php 599 for the 100ml bottle but the site says it's Php 369. Uhmmm? I'm also a little disappointed that it's going to expire on July 2013. I don't think I'm gonna be able to use it up in time..

Other Stuff in Here:

ISkin New York Daily Sunshield SPF 25, Php 2900 / 57g

Facial sunblock! I like it. I'd be excited about it too, but I'm not really.. diligent with facial sunblock. Also, it expires on July this year :( I have ten-year old sunblocks because I don't use them much. It's a shame that this one can't join that collection for long.

Viva La Juicy La Fleur, Php 450 / 5ml

That diamond-esque bottle is doing things to me! But nooo, it's still perfume... Traitor! Hm, I do get a goody bag if I present the Juicy card with a 100ml / 150ml purchase. I'll think about it... Nyargh. The mind is strong but the wallet is weak!!!!

SureSlim voucher worth Php 1500

Not for me. Any takers?

RECAP:

The Elite Box costs Php 1950 yet has a total value of Php 6261.75. WOWOWOW! Sadly, the stuff I'm interested in is only worth Php 1411.75. Damn you near-expiring ISkin! *shakesfist* The fact still remains: you get way, way more than what you paid for. It's pretty tough on the budget though, and I'm glad it's not a monthly thing.

Posting the items along with the box announcement is a double-edged sword for me. On one hand, knowing what I'd be getting helped me decide that I really did want to buy this box. I don't know if I'd have subscribed if I didn't know what I'd be getting; I really really wanted the Davines, amongst other things. However, there's still a small sadness at the loss of mystery because I already knew what was coming.

All in all, another hit from the BDJ Team. I'm glad with the stuff I got, I can't wait to try them all :)
