Lipstick Week: FS True Light Liquid Lipstick in Light Petal

It's the last day of Lipstick Week, halleloo! It's been a fun ride but then again, I'm glad to move on to something different. I'm planning to do a closer post just to wrap everything up  and share my final learnings, but that's for tomorrow. This is going to be the last feature for Lipstick Week. Chorus: AWWW!

I've done mostly shade-centric reviews but I thought I'd save one day for something I picked up based mostly on it's cute packaging. We women, after all, are easily drawn to cute, shiny things (hello, diamonds.)

FS True Light Liquid Lipstick in Light Petal

Let me introduce you to the cuteness that is FS True Light Liquid Lipstick in Light Petal. Yes, that FS as in the Fanny Serrano, ultimate grandmothers' stylist. He has a full makeup line! Wow, who knew?

Price:
Php 299 which I got for 20% off (PHp 239.20) at the same 3-Day Sale where I got Revlon Soft Nude.

Fanny Serrano cosmetics is widely available in a bunch of locations, but let's just say they're in most Watsons stores.

Product Description:
FS is Fanny Serrano's own line under the F21 cosmetics brand.

True Light Liquid Lipsticks are full coverage liquid lipsticks with a glossy finish. This line is particularly known for its - get ready for it - super cute packaging! What's the big deal?

That's the big deal. The tube has a mirror on the side and two bulbs on the applicator cap for easy breezy, lightning quick retouches without needing much of anything else. Perfect for clubbing (as if I ever go clubbing.)

Sorry I couldn't post my own pic. The light on my tube has burned out. I might have left the cap loose one time or left it open for too long, heh.

Light Petal is a nude with rosy undertones. Here are the other shades:

How to Use:
Swipe and store. I love how convenient this thing is! I don't even have to go to the bathroom. Just duck and cover, and the tube is all you need, wherever you end up hiding! Gloss not needed as it's already liquid with a glossy finish.

Performance:
True Light has the same amount of coverage as a wax lipstick. I found that a little peculiar. This is my first liquid lipstick and I never knew you could get the same opacity with a liquid.

However, it's a little difficult to even out because of this problem I keep having with nudes. Light lines form inside the cracks of my lips and I have to swipe extra coats to even it out. It already feels a little tacky so I kind of hate that I have to put a thicker coat than I want. It's also very unforgiving with lip imperfections. Check out this swatch where I caught some unflattering chappy skin and those nudie lines I keep talking about.

Lip Swatch: FS True Light Liquid Lipstick in Light Petal

I also taste this weird metallic flavor, which worries me. I've heard a few years back about this US FDA study which name-dropped popular drugstore and high-end brands of lipsticks with too much toxic lead in them, and I hope there's no lead in FS True Light!

This is my favorite pair with Revlon Soft Nude. When I feel too washed out and dry-looking with Revlon, I top if off with FS Light Petal, using it like a gloss. (Like a gloss should be my new motto, haha.)

Skin Swatch: Revlon Colorburst in Soft Nude (L) and FS True Light in Liquid Petal (R)

I really don't know why FS is a bit more coral on my arm but then turns up more pink on my face. Really, my skin tone is so bizarre I don't even try to make sense of it anymore.

Here's my favorite nude combo: Revlon Colorburst in Soft Nude and FS True Light in Liquid Petal on my face.

Revlon Soft Nude and FS Light Petal

It's a very washed out nude that is almost not-pink, which I often opt with for formal/evening makeup.

Lasting Power:
FS Liquid Lipsticks have pretty average lating power. It stays on about 3 hours and doesn't survive meals.

Edge:
Retouch-friendly container!

Rebuy:
Maybe not. The metallic taste scares me off.

Beauty by Tellie Score:
3/5. It's easy to find, cost-friendly and I don't have the net weight but the tube is pretty big. The container is one-of-a-kind and makes for a really cool conversation piece. The shade is great as a trainer nude for those who are too intimidated by washed out, concealer nudes.

However, for a liquid lipstick, it's pretty difficult to even out (or do all liquid lipsticks apply so difficult?) The metallic taste also freaks me out a little. Without the container, this would be a flat 2 for me.
