My April GlamourBox Unboxing!

Lipstick Week is temporarily on hold; the Subscription Boxes Queen is taking over!

I got this box at the very last day of the month, April 30 (just last Tuesday) and it's let me breathe a sigh of relief. GlamourBox is crawling out of that slump! Days before shipping, Kira of Elegantly Wasted kept Tweeting her excitement about it. I'm not much in the loop about who's involved with GlamourBox but it'd be totes cool if she were part of it.

The April box is heavier and fuller. Sososo full, there's barely any confetti showing up on my unboxing. Now, that's the kind of thing that spazzes me out with excitement. I'd been craving for this feeling of *wow* ever since the new year began. I was still pretty cool with the January box but I'd been steadily feeling dismal about the sample selections and sample quantities in the last few boxes.

It's summer, and there's a shift that tends to lean toward the skincare aisle. I like that none of these are redundant and that they're all especially useful in the summer.

Here's what's inside:

My April Glamourbox

Theme of the month is Green Beauty. GlamourBox has mostly been an obedient little pupil regarding their themes. Every item in here has some form of fruit, vegetable or some other plant as a main ingredient.

Read on for my thoughts on this month's items:

What I'm Excited About:

Mir and Ryvi  Soap Flakes, Php 450 / 250ml

This is the biggest and most attention-getting part of the box. The container is a light-weight clear plastic (and I'm a sucker for anything clear) with a classy, matte-black lid. I got the papaya and mulberry extract variant and it smells so divine! I thought papaya would smell sweet and boring yet there's a strange balance in the scent that makes me wanna tape one flake under each nostril so I could sniff it at ease all day. Please go ahead and envision that, haha!

You can use 2-3 tablespoons with your milk bath or use it as a regular shower soap. I can't imagine how I'd juggle all those flakes given how often regular bar soaps get dropped in my shower (I'm not meant for jail, I know.) I imagine this'd be nice to use with pocketed bath towels.

There are about four marble-sized clumps in the jar but I'm not bothered. I'm not sure whether it's the heat or a natural tendency of the product. No biggie, the flakes are very easy to reseparate.

Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm Magic Tink Tint in Happy Thoughts Pink Php 735 / 3g

Yey, a jumbo lip crayon! It's a Tinker Bell makeup and is a must for all fans. I swatched it and here's what it looks like on skin.

Skin swatch: Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm Magic Tink Tint in Happy Thoughts Pink

As expected, it hardly shows up aside from a discreet pink glow. It had a little minty feel to it though I could be mistaken. It's more for moisture than for color so anyone looking for a low-maintenance lip product for summer would love this one.

Hollywood Style Light Summer Lotion Php 105 / 275 ml

Again, in case anyone forgot, I'm not really a lotion fan. But OMG this cucumber + aloe goodness just smells too yummy for words! True to its name, it's also very light and watery, perfect for summer ickiness. I just spread it on my arm and the high water content feels so refreshing on my overheated skin.

Mox Botanicals Lip Butter in Coconut Almondine 0.1 oz, Php 740 / 0.2oz

I will never not like any lip balm, however, this one is creeping towards the Other stuff in here list. It seems very convincing as a lip butter (with shea butter as the man of the hour) however, two things:

Mox Botanicals Lip Butter in Coconut Almondine

1.) It smells so bad! It might be pleasant to other people but I hate the milky almond combined with the milky coconut. Ick. Nasty.

2.) I found it "sweating" inside the container. If it can't retain it's own moisture, can it retain my lips' moisture? I'm not sure about the chemistry of lip butters but I'm trying to remain positive about this.

Other Stuff in Here:

Mir and Ryvi Tomato Soap

Being on the lookout for facial cleansers, I should be more excited about this one. It's not that I have a bad impression of the product, it's just that, I already got it from my March SaladBox and it's not really new to me. The only saving grace is that I already know how awesome it is and I am not gonna run out of good facial soaps any time soon.

Regatta Leisure EDT ~2ml, Php 395 / 50ml

The Women's scent smells kinda like candied flowers and the Men's variant smells like typical guy-cologne. I'm not really interested in scents when I subscribe to these boxes.

RECAP:

GlamourBox April Curation Card

My only critique is that I'm honestly still missing a true cosmetics here. GlamourBox has always added a full-sized makeup in their boxes and they don't really rely on much of anything else. When they stopped doing it, that's when they lost their appeal. In the beginning, they started really strong with the Horus mascara in November, Ofra lip palette in December and LA Splash shadow base in January. Then it kinda went meh and went alive again this month. Personally, balms (even tinted balms like Pixi's) don't quite cut it for me as a makeup. Still, it's pretty darn close so I'm not all that disappointed.

In fact, I'm pretty pleased that the box is creeping on back up to the Glamour-level of the first couple of boxes. There are 3 out of 5 full-size items and I'd love to try all of these out (except the perfumes)!

Glamourbox is available at Php 590 / month.
