Gudetama x Holika Holika Haul

Gudetama x Holika Holika Haul

So, finally I got around to visiting Holika Holika! It was about August or September of 2016 when I saw the Gudetama x Holika Holika collaboration in an actual store. However, since I was in the process of moving, I didn't have time to check it out and kind of forgot about it since I don't go to nor see HHs too often.

To be honest, I don't have a very good impression of Holika Holika. They're lumped with my "general Korean brand" list (including Etude House) of having a few star products with lots inconsistent ones in between.

And to be equally fair, I could be totally wrong because I've only tried HH's Pudding BB, and not much of it for a decent review. I used to think the same way of Innisfree but did a complete 180 when I got to try a few more products. I will write about this "conversion" in a separate post.

So, with no idea of the brand and being purely directed by my supreme love and adoration for lazy egg Gudetama, I listened to my heart and bought the stuff with the cutest packaging. I didn't actually try hard to stop myself. Everything in Holika is so cheap!

Base Products

Now that I'm writing this, I feel conflicted. I thought KRW 22 900 for a BB cream was a steal as I normally see cushions at ~KRW 40 000 (~PHO1 700.) I didn't realize I was comparing it to Laneige, a brand I really like and am confident with. It was KRW 22 900 (~PHP975) for the standard 1pc + 1refill deal of this transparent as f bb cushion. And anyway, I bought it for the cute case :>

Word of warning though, the collection comes with a case-only line at KRW 8 000 THAT DOES NOT COME WITH THE CUTE YOLK PUFF so do be careful not to get too excited. I wonder how much an extra Gudetama puff costs for my puffless case uhu :(

The only good thing here that I'll pretend to have thought of while buying these items so as to appear more reasonable, is that buying a case and cushion will let me use both cushions while being able to admire both cute cases at the same time ^^

L-R: Gudetama Face 2 Change Photo Ready Cushion BB (15g x 2, #23, KRW 22 900), Gudetama Face 2 Change Photo Ready Cushion BB Case (#3, KRW 8 000), Gudetama Sweet Cotton Sebum Clear Pact (9g, KRW 7900) not in photo.

I also bought a sebum pact to set my eyeshadow. It's something I learned in makeup school and it's the most utilitarian and sensible purchase here so of course I'm the least excited about that. I even forgot to include it in the photo :/

Skincare

L-R: Gudetama All Kill Sheet (10pc set, KRW 25 000), Gudetama Ceramide Capsule Cream (50ml, KRW 13900, sale price at 8340), Gudetama All in One Master (100ml, KRW 23 000), Gudetama Smooth Egg Peeling Gel (140ml, KRW 7900)

As my Acwell routine's essence recently dried out, I've been thinking of replacing my whole skincare routine. It's just not doing as well without the essence and I don't feel like using the set with some random piece in place of the essence.

I was so wrong not to get a cleanser. I think I'll have to go back and get it. Because in the end I got an emulsifying oil cleanser and I don't like using oil based cleansers without foaming cleansers as step 2.

I could use one of the many freebie cleansers I have here, but how can I look at my own egg face knowing I've betrayed its one true egg master?

Everything else is pretty straight-forward, but my most interesting purchase is probably the All in One Master. It's a hydration product replacing everything from toner to essence to lotion, all packaged in a gel that transforms into an essence texture when massaged. I'm so stoked for this one!

The peeling gel, I only need for my flaking skin caused by winter. I totally do not care about the cute packaging whatsoever. Yes. Certainly. Fact.

Color Cosmetics

L-R: Gudetama Jelly Dough Blusher (CR01, KRW 8900), Gudetama Melting Lip Button (OR02, KRW 10 900), Gudetama All Night Tint (#1 Red Queen, 5ml, KRW 5900)

I don't know why I bought the tint because I hate tints and the packaging isn't so cute >:( but at this point I was kind of going insane and thinking I'm so pale all the time maybe a tint would be useful for me.

The lipstick's color is annoying as well but fuck me with that cute Gudetama pen design!

Swatches: TL - Gudetama Melting Lip Button OR02 in one swipe (top) and three swipes (bottom), TR - Gudetama All Night Tint #1 Red Queen, B - Gudetama Jelly Dough Blusher CR01

Probably the only thing I really liked in this bunch is the Jelly Dough Blusher which has a super cute, moussey-clay texture.

"Service"

The best part about shopping in Korea is this thing called "service." Basically, many shop owners feel that they need to give you freebies. What their intentions are, I'm not sure. Maybe it's a cultural thing of wanting to please customers above and beyond, maybe it's the pressure to win back those who've gone to the highly competitive online market - I can't really say for sure. I am just here to sit back and enjoy all the freebies that can fall into my lap.

For a minimum spend of KRW50 000 I got this mini Gudetama blanket. I CAN'T.  It was funny because at first, the shopkeeper was only talking to me about a 30 000 freebie and I just said "I understand" while deep in my mind I continued on like, "quiet bitch, I'm thinking. I'm definitely going to go over 30 000."

When I'd filled one basket and was still poised to add more, he started on this blanket which basically sealed the deal for me.

I was also evilly eyeing a Gudetama stuffed toy they had out but at an unexpected spree of KRW120 000~ I didn't feel like chasing the freebie.

For everyone's information, it's a hand mirror for 10 000, pouch for 30 000 and the blanket for 50 000.

Gifts: Gudetama Blanket, free with purchase of KRW 50 000 (not in photo), Gudetama All Kill Cleanser Oil to Foam KRW 12 000, Gudetama All Kill Sheet 2pc, Good Cera Emulsion and Toner samples (2ea), Makgeolli Brightening Mask Sheet x 2, Makeup Starte…

Remember the emulsifying oil cleanser I was talking about earlier? I didn't actually buy it. The shopkeeper was just so happy to see me buying things that he threw in a bunch of random stuff as I was paying. He actually gave me this actual piece from the actual collection for free :o Heck he even threw in a bunch of candy as I was leaving the store!

In the end, I also got 2 extra Gudetama masks and 2 Makgeoli masks, bestseller samples (aloe sachet and Good Cera bottlettes) and some pretty interesting samples of makeup starters. I know how to use it but I'm not sure what it is. Is it like cleanser to prep you for makeup? Is it more like primer? Anyway I'll try to use it soon.

Overall, a very good shopping trip this time.
